ARRI Launches New Remote Head That’s a Real Gamechanger

Once again, ARRI is making all of our lives easier.

ARRI’s new Digital Encoder Head (DEH-1) is the first digitally-encoded head that can communicate through LBUS.

The DEH-1 will enable shooters to remotely control their tripod with Cartoni technology to communicate through ARRI’s LBUS protocol that is connected to the Stabilized Remote Head (SRH-3). The DEH-1 is a standard ARRI designed fluid head that attached with any Mitchell flat based tripod or support and with an adjustable drag system for precise pan and tilt movements, the DEH-1 is intuitive and easy to use, and promises to be a smarter alternative to using a wireless joystick or hand wheel.

Ready for action, the new Digital Encoder Head (DEH-1) is the latest addition to ARRI’s Camera Stabilizer System range. Specifically designed to operate ARRI’s remote-controlled Stabilized Remote Head (SRH-3), the DEH-1 is a fluid head that interfaces with any Mitchell flat base tripod or support. Based on Cartoni’s well-known technology, ARRI’s DEH-1 is the first digital encoder head that communicates through the LBUS protocol.

The DHE-1 digital encoder comes with a complete set of Master Grips for focus and zoom, or with an OCU-1 and Master Grip Zoom Rocker. The LBUS protocol allows for all the grips to be connected to the DEH-1 through a single cable, as well as to the SRH-3 remote control. The SRH-3 remote control can control the entire system, adjusting all values and parameters, and the entire unit can be reconfigured for left handed or right handed camera operators.

Connecting by a flat cheese plate with multiple threaded holes, the fluid head contains Cartoni fluid drag modules which can adjust pan and tilt modes in seven steps. There are two sliding counterweights which can also be adjusted to balance the weight of the attached Master Grips, or the OCU-1.
